JOB TITLE :

Machinist


Position Overview:

Sets up, programs and operates conventional, special purpose, CNC machines and machining centers to machine and fabricate parts.

Position Reports To:
Production Supervisor

Specific Duties

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jib borers, grinders and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fits mating parts together.
  • Consults with tooling vendors about specific tooling needs.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Critical Job Skills/Competency Expectations:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
  2. Some experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  3. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  4. Ability to utilize mathematical skills and accurately read blue prints. Must be able to read and interpret basic instructions and booklets.
  5. Must have current drivers’ license to operate powered industrial trucks.
  6. Able to read, write and speak English.

JOB TITLE :

Machine Builder/Assembler


Position Overview:
With direction, assembles or sub-assembles parts/components for presses, partially or completely by working at bench or shop floor.

Position Reports To:
Supervisor, Operations or Supervisor, Defense

Specific Duties

  1. Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints.
  2. Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
  3. Cut out and/or mount electrical boxes for use in manufacturing process.
  4. Removes small quantities of metal with honing machines, hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  5. Uses various measurement tools to accurately measure internal and/or external diameter of precision parts necessary to assemble component parts and/or finished products.
  6. Drills and taps holes needed to assemble clutch and/or other sub-assemblies.
  7. Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation as required.
  8. Greases and test units to assure proper fit and function.
  9. Performs start-up operations on all new or rebuild presses to ascertain that controls and wiring is appropriate for use.
  10. Inform supervisor when parts need to be ordered.
  11. Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Critical Job Skills/Competency Expectations:

  1. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. Must have current drivers’ license to operate powered industrial trucks.
  3. One to three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  4. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  5. Ability to utilize mathematical skills and accurately read blue prints.

JOB TITLE :

Lead Engineer, Tooling


Position Overview:
Develop process and design tooling for Munitions products to print. Create design in solid works, detail components and create BOM. Works with tooling operations on best practices and lessons learned. Lead Tooling department and mentor less experienced designers.

Position Reports To:
Vice President of Defense or delegated substitute

Specific Duties

  1. Design punches, dies, tool holders and ancillary equipment required for running customer product.
  2. Develop Bill of Materials for all Tooling and Die Sets needed for Munitions projects.
  3. Keep prints up to date with changes made during fit up and development
  4. Assist in Factory Expectance Test and Customer Run Off as needed.
  5. Assists with the assembly and fit up of the machines in the department.
  6. Works with team to trouble shoot and correct tooling issues or problems.
  7. Assist in supplier management, sourcing, and quote review for purchased components.
  8. Maintain and develop Tool Design Standards.
  9. Review tooling designs for fit and function before ordering. Ensure tooling is designed to meet BCN standards.
  10. Mentoring and training of entry level tooling engineers.
  11. Run Forming Simulation software (Pam-Stamp) to ensure feasibility of process prior to tool build.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Critical Job Skills/Competency Expectations:

  1. 3D modeling experience, Solid Works preferred.
  2. Forming Simulation experience, Pam-Stamp preferred.
  3. Experience with metal stamping tool deign, prefer deep draw eyelet tooling experience in and Baird, Platarg, Asahi Sieki or Waterbury presses.
  4. Must know machine shop practices.
  5. SPC knowledge a plus.
  6. Supports environment of innovation and change.
  7. Improves knowledge, skills and abilities to improve performance in the short-term and long-term.
  8. Ensures quality and quantity standards are met.
  9. Maintains a clear focus on internal and external customer needs.
  10. Uses data to make informed decisions.

Tooling engineers and supporting outside contractors.

JOB TITLE:

Quality Control Technician


Position Overview:

With direction, assembles or sub-assembles parts/components for presses, partially or completely by working at bench or shop floor.

Position Reports To:
Director of Quality

Specific Duties

  1. Read work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, purchase specifications, or schematics to determine standards to be used.
  2. Ease of use with high precision measurement tools such as various micrometers, Fero-Arm, CMM and gauges.
  3. Calibrates test instruments according to specifications.
  4. Compares results with specifications and records test data.
  5. Analyzes test results on defective parts to determine cause of failure.
  6. Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
  7. Verifies dimensions of pins, shafts and other mechanical parts.
  8. Indirectly involved in addressing complaints and the resolution of production problems.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Critical Job Skills/Competency Expectations:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. 1 year minimum; CMM and Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Polywork and Sage 500 experience preferred.
  4. Proficient in GD&T.
  5. Good grasp of mathematical skills.
  6. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  7. Excellent visual acuity.
